ebay UK and ebay Ireland announce ban on electronic cigarettes.
In a draconian move and what we feel is pressure from the tobacco giants and government, ebay has announced today, 29th May 2009 it will ban the sale of electronic cigarettes and components with effect from the 30th June 2009.
ebay states "From 30th June 2009, electronic cigarettes or e-cigarettes will be banned from sale on eBay.co.uk and eBay.ie. This ban will enable ebay.co.uk and ebay.ie to have consistent policies with other eBay sites throughout Europe. The ban also includes any listing of component parts (including but not limited to): cartridges, atomisers, liquid refills, vaporisers, batteries and shells. Full details of this policy will be available on 30th June"
Indeed this is a blow to use as a supplier but more so to the consumer who is looking to quit smoking as readily available supplies start to dry up.
Or primary reason for supplying eCigs has always been health orientated. We have numbers of people reporting cutting right down and indeed many people who have succesfully quit using our product.
We will of course continue to sell and service our customers from our website.
If you're intent on quiting we advise stocking up now as it looks like a smokey storm is brewing over the sale of eCigs.
